When is the best time for Umrah?
There is no season in which Umrah is not allowed. What differs is the crowds, the heat and the price, and those three go together. Choose based on what matters most to you.
The busiest and quietest times
Ramadan is by far the busiest, and the last ten days are extreme. The weeks around the Hajj are full too. Quieter are the months after Ramadan and periods outside school holidays; the tawaf is then considerably calmer.
The heat
From June to September daytime temperatures can go well above forty degrees. Indoor areas are cooled, but the tawaf on the upper level and the walking routes between hotels are not. If you go in summer, plan the rituals for nighttime. Take water and sun protection seriously.
How long to stay
The rituals themselves take half a day to a day. Most trips are one to two weeks, often with a few days in Medina. Shorter is possible, but then the trip is mostly travelling; if you want time to pray in peace and return to the Haram, ten days is enough.
